Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking a Director of Pharmacy to provide strategic and operational leadership for inpatient, outpatient, specialty and contract pharmacy services. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations, drives clinical excellence, and aligns pharmacy with the organization's growth objectives.

The position oversees enterprise-wide pharmacy operations, formulary management, and collaboration with clinical teams to support optimal medication use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• License: Ohio State Board of Pharmacy license required.
• BCPS or BCPPS preferred.
• Five years of relevant experience required.
• Three years of supervisory leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

• Leads enterprise-wide pharmacy operations with focus on quality, safety and compliance.
• Develops strategic plans for growth, optimization and clinical integration.
• Oversees budgeting, cost control and revenue from retail, specialty and contract programs.
• Supervises and develops pharmacy leaders and staff.
• Collaborates with clinical teams for safe medication use and formulary management.
• Monitors controlled substance handling and regulatory compliance.
• Implements quality improvement and medication safety initiatives.
• Supports innovation in automation and Epic Willow workflows.
• Serves as a pediatric pharmacy subject matter expert across age groups.
