Job summary

Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Medical Assistant for outpatient care. The role supports physicians and nursing staff, performing phlebotomy, injections, ECGs, and basic administrative duties to ensure smooth clinic operations.

Candidates should have a formal Medical Assistant program completion, a high school diploma, and 0-3 years of clinical experience. BLS certification is required or preferred where noted. This position is on-site at the Lincoln Park outpatient center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Successful completion of a formal Medical Assistant program.
• Possesses 0-3 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) (AAMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required.
• Some college, preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and specimen processing as directed by delegating provider.
• Administers injections (IM, subcutaneous, intradermal) and medications.
• Performs ECGs, Holter monitoring, and telemetry data downloads where applicable.
• Maintains clinic flow with staff collaboration and supports scheduling and check-in/out tasks.
• Obtains patient measurements, history, and intake data.
• Stocks and maintains clinic area and orders supplies as needed.
• Follows disinfection and sterilization protocols; participates in high-level disinfection when required.
