Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Dental Assistant to provide chairside support in pediatric dentistry, with flexibility to assist in Orthodontics when needed. You will update patient records, assist four-handed dentistry, and help manage anesthesia-related procedures.

The role involves preparing operatory, sterilizing instruments, performing radiographs, and maintaining inventory and infection-control standards across the CDM clinics.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certification in dental assisting preferred.
• Ability to work with pediatric patients and providechairside support.

Responsibilities

• 30% chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry for residents, including anesthesia management and EHR updates.
• 25% set up operatory for dental and surgical procedures; maintain sterilization and infection control; stock and organize supplies.
• 10% perform oral prophylaxis and document care in the EHR.
• 10% acquire radiographs (periapical, panoramic, cephalometric, 3-D) per treatment plan and safety standards.
• 10% assist with patient transport and post-anesthesia monitoring; protect patient privacy.
• 10% manage dental supplies, inventory, MSDS notebook, and incident reporting; support other clinics as needed.
• 5% assist in other clinics and duties as directed by supervisor.
