Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is hiring a Dental Assistant for the CDM Orthodontics clinic. Under supervision, you will provide clinical dental assistance to multi‑specialty faculty, residents, and patients, using four‑hand dentistry techniques and EPIC for patient data.

You will set up operatories, maintain infection control, acquire radiographs, and support orthodontic resident rotations. The job requires a high school diploma, ADA‑accredited training, and 1–3 years of experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and formal ADA accredited dental assisting training.
• 1 year of dental assisting experience OR 3 years of dental assisting experience.

Responsibilities

• 35% chairside assisting with four handed dentistry for faculty and residents.
• 30% set up operatory, sterilize instruments, manage infection control per MUSC/CDM policies.
• 10% acquire radiographs (periapical, panoramic, cephalometric, 3D) and print 3D models.
• 10% supervise Orthodontic block rotations and Orthodontic Work Study program; sign time detail forms.
• 5% assist in patient transport and monitor anesthesia post-care.
• 5% maintain dental supplies and inventory; prepare MSDS notebook; document equipment issues.
• 5% perform miscellaneous duties as directed by clinic manager/supervisor.
