Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina Orthodontics clinic seeks a dental assistant to support multi-specialty faculty, primarily in Orthodontics with occasional Pediatrics. Under supervision, you will perform chairside assisting, set up operatory, and manage radiographs and patient transport.

You will maintain instruments, sterilization, infection control, and inventory, while providing administrative clinic support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or ADA accredited dental assisting course plus 1 year of dental assisting experience
• Radiation Safety certification required for x-ray positions
• Experience with four-handed dentistry and infection control policies

Responsibilities

• 35%: chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry for faculty across general and specialty care; manage EHR notes
• 30%: set up operatory for dental and surgical procedures; sterilize instruments and maintain infection control
• 10%: acquire radiographs (periapical, panoramic, cephalometric, 3-D) per treatment plans and safety standards
• 10%: assist with patient transport and monitoring post-anesthesia care; protect patient privacy
• 10%: maintain supplies and inventory; provide administrative support in the clinic
