Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a clinical dental assistant to support multi-specialty faculty and residency programs in CDM clinics. You will perform chairside assisting, radiographs, operatory setup, sterilization and EPIC EHR data entry to support patient care.

The role involves supervising orthodontic rotations, maintaining inventory, and assisting in various dental specialties under supervision of the clinic manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and completion of ADA accredited dental assisting course.
• One year of dental assisting experience OR three continuous years of dental assisting experience.
• Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays.

Responsibilities

• 35%: Chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry for faculty and residents across general to specialty care.
• 30%: Set up operatory, maintain instruments, sterilize, and manage infection control per policies.
• 10%: Acquire radiographs and print 3-D models for diagnostic purposes.
• 10%: Supervise orthodontic block rotations and align staff duties in clinic.
• 5%: Assist with patient transport and monitoring post-anesthesia safety.
• 5%: Maintain supplies, inventory, and clinic administration tasks.
