Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Observation Assistant to provide constant observation of high-risk patients and support nursing staff in the Emergency Room Pediatrics unit. The role requires de-escalation training, Basic Life Support, and strong communication in English.

Shift is 3pm-11pm with 24 hours per week, potential signing bonus and union support. You'll assist patients with safety, document observations, and participate in environmental safety checks under RN or physician direction.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent, required.
• Must complete de-escalation training.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the RN.
• Monitors the patient and conducts patient safety checks at required intervals.
• Escorts patients and assists with safety and de-escalation as needed under RN/MD direction.
• Documents patient behavior and safety checks in the patient chart and communicates handoffs to the on-coming staff.
