Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center, is seeking an energetic acute care pediatric nurse practitioner to join the 48-bed PICU on the main campus. You will work with the medical team to care for infants to young adults and their families, in a busy unit that handles high-acuity patients and collaborates with subspecialty services.

The role requires graduates from an acute care pediatric NP program; new graduates welcome.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program.
• New graduates accepted; prior PICU RN experience preferred.
• PICU nurses work rotating shifts.

Responsibilities

• Take health histories and perform physicals for birth-18 years with acute or chronic conditions.
• Collaborate with residents, fellows, and attendings on patient care.
• Order and prescribe medications and therapies.
• Develop family-centered care plans during rounds.
• Document and bill daily.
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams.
• Perform critical care procedures (intubations, central/arterial lines, LPs, chest tubes).
• Adapt plans using current evidence and family needs.
• Educate patients, families and health team.
• Engage in professional development.
• Mentor other team members.
• Commit to patient safety and safe practice.
• Undertake research and teaching duties.
