Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an energetic acute care pediatric nurse practitioner to join our 48-bed PICU. The NP collaborates with physicians and residents to care for high-acuity patients from birth to 18 years in a level 1 trauma center.

Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, orders, family-centered care planning, daily documentation, and coordination with interdisciplinary teams. New graduates are welcome; prior PICU RN experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program (ACNP).
• New graduates welcomed; prior PICU RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive health histories, physical assessments, and plans for infants, children and young adults with acute and chronic conditions.
• Use advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients in collaboration with residents, fellows, and attending physicians.
• Order and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions to treat illness and improve health status.
• Formulate family-centered plan of care during interprofessional rounds.
• Perform daily documentation and billing.
• Collaborate and coordinate care with interdisciplinary services.
• Perform critical care procedures including intubations, central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar punctures, and chest tubes.
• Apply up-to-date, evidence-based care plans and adjust as needed for family needs and effectiveness.
• Serve as an educational resource to patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Participate in professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to the professional development of other healthcare team members.
• Demonstrate commitment to patient safety and shared accountability of safe practice.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties, research, and education
