Job summary

Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Inc. seeks an energetic acute care pediatric nurse practitioner to join the main campus PICU team.

This 48-bed unit cares for patients birth to 18 years, requiring collaboration with residents, fellows and attending physicians within a Level 1 trauma center. Applicants must have completed an acute care pediatric NP program; new graduates are welcome with PICU RN experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from ACEN/CCNE accredited program in Pediatric Acute Care, Pediatric Primary Care, or Family Medicine.
• Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider.
• State of Arizona NP certification or eligibility by start date.
• National board certification to match area of education or obtained by start date.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health history, physical assessments and plans for infants, children and young adults with acute and chronic health conditions.
• Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
• Formulates family centered plan of care and performs daily documentation.
• Collaborates with residents, fellows and attending physicians to manage patient cohorts.
• Performs advanced procedures as credentialed (e.g., intubation, line placements).
• Participates in professional development and precepts/mentors colleagues and students.
