Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking an energetic acute care pediatric nurse practitioner to join the 48-bed PICU team at our main campus in Phoenix. The NP collaborates with physicians to care for high-acuity patients from birth to 18 years, in a Level 1 trauma center with strong subspecialty programs and satellite units requiring coverage.

Applicants must have graduated from an acute care pediatric NP program; new graduates are welcome and PICU RN experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program.
• New graduates are accepted; prior PICU experience as an RN is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health histories and physical assessments for infants to young adults with acute or chronic conditions.
• Uses advanced assessment skills to manage a patient cohort in collaboration with residents, fellows, and attending physicians.
• Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions to treat illness and improve health status.
• Formulates family-centered plans of care during interprofessional rounds.
• Performs daily documentation and billing.
• Coordinates care with interdisciplinary services.
• Performs critical care procedures (e.g., intubations, central/arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tubes).
• Applies evidence-based practice to plan of care and adapt plans to patient and family needs.
• Serves as an educational resource to patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Engages in professional development for self and team.
• Participates in development of other team members.
• Demonstrates commitment to patient safety and shared accountability of safe practice.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties, research, and education
