Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking an energetic Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our 48-bed PICU on the main campus. Work with a multidisciplinary team to care for high-acuity patients birth to 18 years old in a level 1 trauma center.

The role involves conducting histories and exams, ordering interventions, performing critical care procedures, and coordinating care with residents, fellows, and attending physicians. New graduates are welcome; PICU RN experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner program.
• New graduates are welcome; PICU RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health histories and physical assessments for infants, children and young adults with acute and chronic conditions.
• Uses advanced clinical assessment skills to manage a cohort in collaboration with residents, fellows, and attending physicians.
• Orders and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic measures.
• Formulates family-centered plans of care during interprofessional rounds.
• Performs daily documentation and billing.
• Collaborates and coordinates care with interdisciplinary services.
• Performs critical care procedures including intubations, central line placement, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, and chest tubes.
• Maintains evidence-based practice and adapts the plan according to family needs and effectiveness.
• Educates patients, families, and the healthcare team; participates in professional development.
