Job summary

Mercy Health Youngstown is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care on a designated unit and mentor staff in collaboration with the Clinical Manager. The role emphasizes nursing judgment, patient safety, and efficient use of resources to sustain high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• BSN preferred.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year in a similar acuity level.
• BLS certification preferred at hire.
• Certifications such as PALS/ACLS/NRP preferred depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care on a designated unit and collaborates with the care team.
• Oversees staff guidance and unit coverage in the absence of the unit leader.
• Maintains environmental safety standards and infection control; uses appropriate supplies/equipment.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families about plan of care.
• Provides rounds to evaluate safety, quality, and patient experience.
• Supports mission and adheres to Mercy Health policies.
