Job summary

Children's National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an Emergency Services Tech Specialist to collaborate with the healthcare team and provide essential patient care. This role anticipates patient needs and supports diagnostic and treatment measures under supervision of RN, NP, or physician, with competency development within 3 months.

Minimum education is a high school diploma or GED, plus 2 years of direct emergency patient care experience and completion of an emergency/medical/nursing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years direct patient care in an emergency setting and completion of an emergency, medical or nursing technician training program.
• Comply with hospital/department policies regarding patient care and safety.

Responsibilities

• Identify need for, obtain and document patient vital signs accurately (T, P, R, BP, SpO2, weight).
• Recognize and report changes in vital signs, color, breathing, behavior, consciousness level or neuro-vascular status.
• Set up and document placement of monitoring equipment and alarm limits.
• Assure correct delivery of oxygen delivery methods and resuscitation equipment as needed.
• Assist in wound care, splints, immobilizers, and transportation of patients.
• Document all vital signs and procedures accurately on treatment records.
