Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC is seeking an Ambulatory Patient Care Tech to work with the multidisciplinary team under the RN’s direction. You will perform basic nursing tasks, ensure a safe and clean patient care area, and help direct patient flow.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and CNA/EMT/CPCT certification with BLS. Prior acute care experience, preferably pediatrics, is preferred. The position emphasizes thorough documentation and patient-family communication.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) certification required.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist to maintain a safe, clean, stocked patient care setting and help direct patient flow.
• Collect data and document patient information for meaningful use, including vitals and chief complaint.
• Provide basic nursing care such as nourishment, ambulation assistance, and discharge escort.
• Monitor equipment and report repairs; perform or assist with POCT and lab draws as assigned.
• Communicate with families and staff, maintain a courteous, calm, professional demeanor.
• Meet Joint Commission/DOH documentation requirements and maintain daily records.
