Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an Ambulatory Patient Care Tech to join the multidisciplinary team. You will perform basic nursing tasks, collect data, monitor vital signs, and assist with patient flow in a pediatric ambulatory setting.

The role requires a CNA/EMT/CPCT credential and BLS, with prior pediatric acute care experience preferred. Expect a collaborative environment and a focus on patient safety and comfort during visits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of acute health care experience preferred, pediatrics.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and document information for meaningful use including chief complaint, medications, allergies, smoking history and exposure as reported by family.
• Obtain vital signs (TPR, BP), height, weight and head circumference; orient family to the clinic environment.
• Recognize abnormalities and report to RN/Provider; assist in pain screening.
• Provide basic nursing care and assist with ambulation and discharge.
• Check equipment and report repairs; ensure necessary supplies and instruments are ready.
• Collect specimens for testing per policy, including POCT and lab draws.
• Inform patient/guardian about collection process and available resources.
• Meet Joint Commission/DOH documentation requirements; complete clean sweep weekly.
