Job Description

The pediatric dental assistant's role is to ensure each patient receives outstanding, individualized service at every treatment appointment.

Responsibilities
  1. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each clinical day, engaged and ready for team morning meeting.
  2. Welcome patients with a smile and positive energy.
  3. Prepare patients for treatments or checkups, ensuring their comfort.
  4. Ensure an excellent patient experience by providing care in a patient-friendly environment, including timely arrivals and personal acknowledgment.
  5. Build relationships by getting to know patients and interacting with families on an individual level.
  6. Serve as chairside clinical assistant, proficient in photography, x-rays, assisting through 4-handed dentistry, and instrument setup.
  7. Use dental language and terminology proficiently for chart notes.
  8. Operate practice management software for scheduling and administrative support.
  9. Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures.
  10. Manage clinical chair efficiently to see 12-15+ patients daily.
  11. Provide oral hygiene and post-operative instructions to patients/parents.
  12. Sterilize instruments per regulations and undertake lab tasks as instructed.
  13. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
  14. Assist with patient education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
  15. Keep the dental room clean and stocked.
Qualifications
  1. Dental x-ray certification.
  2. Proven experience as a dental assistant.
  3. Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods.
  4. Understanding of health & safety regulations.
  5. Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus.
  6. Good computer skills.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Attention to detail, well-organized, reliable.
  9. High school diploma; graduation from dental assistant school preferred.
