Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital seeks a Behavioral Health Technician I to support pediatric patients in the inpatient behavioral health unit or ED. The role is part-time (24 hours per week) with 2nd shift hours from 12pm to 12:30am and flexible days including weekends and holidays.

Under RN direction, you will assist with direct patient care, documentation, group activities, and safety rounds. Prior healthcare exposure and BLS certification are favorable; strong teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current enrollment in undergrad degree in counseling, psychology, social work or nursing preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collects data and contributes to assessment and care planning for pediatric patients in inpatient behavioral health or ED.
• Provides direct patient care with RN supervision and supports activities of daily living.
• Facilitates psychoeducational and therapeutic groups; documents in medical records.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and communicates with the treatment team.
• Manages crises using positive approaches and guides families as directed by the RN.
• Performs environmental safety rounds and reports unsafe conditions and security issues.
• Performs other duties as required.
