Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, is seeking a Nursing Assistant/CPCT to support ambulatory pediatric care. You will collect patient data, monitor vital signs, and assist with patient flow and discharge under RN supervision.

The role requires a HS diploma, 1 year in acute care (pediatrics preferred), and BLS certification, with CNA/EMT/CPCT credentials. Training in basic nursing tasks and family education is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in an acute health care setting, pediatrics preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EMT, or CPCT required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and document information for meaningful use (chief complaint, meds, allergies, tobacco exposure).
• Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and head circumference; orient families to clinic.
• Recognize abnormalities and escalate to RN/Provider; assist in pain screening.
• Provide basic nursing care and assist patient with ambulation and discharge.
• Check and maintain equipment; coordinate lab tests and specimen collection.
