Job summary

Children's National Hospital is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician for our ambulatory clinic in Washington, DC. The role collaborates with the health care team to perform basic nursing tasks, document patient information, and support safe patient flow.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of acute care experience (pediatrics preferred), and CNA/EMT/CPCT along with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in an acute health care setting – pediatrics preferred.
• CNA, EMT, or CPCT certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and document information for meaningful use including chief complaint, medications, allergies, tobacco history and vital signs.
• Recognize abnormalities and report to RN or Provider; screen for pain and signs of distress; initiate BLS if needed.
• Provide basic nursing care such as nourishment, ambulation, and discharge assistance.
• Ensure equipment is in working order and notify for repairs.
• Collect specimens and perform tests as assigned; inform family of procedures and resources.
