Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction projects at Fort Hood, TX. The role requires expertise in UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and coordination with project teams throughout design, construction, and acceptance testing.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license, 5+ years of fire protection experience, and strong technical writing and communication skills to collaborate with government personnel and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• PE license required.
• Minimum of five years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards.
• USACE or federal project experience preferred.
• Experience with QA, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
• Strong writing, communication, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA fire protection requirements.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders for fire protection features.
• Perform plan reviews and lessons learned from projects.
• Conduct inspections per project docs and contract requirements.
• Evaluate site conditions for compliance with fire protection codes.
• Prepare detailed technical reports with deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Provide guidance on facility design and fire protection systems.
• Serve as fire-safety consultant to project managers and government personnel.
• Review contractor submittals and RFIs for comments.
• Schedule final acceptance testing for fire protection systems.
• Oversee QA and document findings during project execution.
• Perform other duties as assigned
