Job summary

Cobalt Service Partners, LLC is seeking an experienced Controller to own accounting for acquired operating companies. You will lead GAAP close, reporting, controls, payroll oversight, and audits, while driving revenue recognition, WIP, and cash management at the center of decision making.

This is a hands-on role building a finance function across multiple entities, setting policy, and upgrading processes as we scale the CSP platform. CPA and construction/ERP experience are preferred for success.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical accounting experience in public accounting, audit/assurance, or complex operational accounting, including inventory and job costing.
• Strong command of GAAP, including project revenue recognition (ASC 606), percentage-of-completion, and work-in-process accounting.
• Experience integrating acquired businesses, including consolidating systems, processes, or reporting across entities
• Experience with construction or mid-market ERPs and payroll platforms, plus the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivots, and building models from messy data.
• A track record of bringing structure to ambiguity and communicating clearly with non-finance operators.

Responsibilities

• Close & reporting: Monthly close with GAAP statements and reporting package within 7 business days.
• Project revenue & WIP: Manage ASC 606 recognition and WIP reviews with project teams.
• Job costing: Maintain margin visibility; flag erosion and compare to estimates.
• Billing, collections & cash: Oversee AR, cash forecast, and covenant risk monitoring.
• Planning & analysis: Lead annual budget and monthly forecast by department; track covenants.
• Audit & tax: Support year-end and liaise with auditors and tax advisors.
