Job summary

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas, part of Scripps Health, is hiring a part-time PBX Operator. This role handles calls, routes inquiries, and supports emergency communications within a busy hospital campus. Weekend, evening, and holiday coverage is included as part of a varied schedule.

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has served North County’s coastal communities since 1978. We’re located at Santa Fe Drive and I-5, within walking distance of a park, fitness center, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants.

Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas’ campus includes Scripps Clinic Encinitas and an outpatient imaging center. We’re home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.

This is a part-time, benefit eligible position at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. The shifts are 0600/1430 with a varied schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.

The PBX Operator answers calls and routine inquiries, routing to intended destination. Appropriately responds to and documents emergency situations, per policy and guidelines. Acts as a part of a team, including training new employees. Pages physicians, security or employees as appropriate via radio, pagers, computer, or over-head PA system. Follows all documentation procedures. Completes additional task such as sorting and mailing messages during downtime, delivering messages to physician offices and completing and distributing daily sheets.

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills

• Strong customer service skills, computer skills, and ability to work in fast pace environment using repetitive hand motion with the ability to multi-task.

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification

• Health care experience, and Call Center/PBX experience.

Position Pay Range: $25.00-$29.29/hour
