Job summary

ElevaIT is seeking a PBX Operator to manage hospital calls, paging, and basic communications at a busy Long Beach facility. The role runs overnight from Friday night through Tuesday morning, with Wednesdays and Thursdays off, for a 12-month term with potential extension.

The ideal candidate will have call center or hospital operator experience, strong communication skills, basic computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. Epic EMR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months hospital operator or call center experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Basic computer and office software skills needed.
• Knowledge of medical terminology advantageous.
• Reliable and punctual with ability to work overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct incoming hospital calls.
• Provide department phone numbers and locations to callers.
• Operate the hospital paging system and make announcements.
• Follow emergency codes and alarm procedures; assist hospital security during emergencies.
• Register patients in the EMR/EHR system and verify patient identity.
• Monitor faxes and documents; ensure accurate documentation.

Job Overview

We are looking for a Hospital Switchboard Operator to handle incoming calls, hospital paging, and basic communication tasks for a busy healthcare facility in Long Beach, CA.

Responsibilities

• Answer and direct incoming hospital calls
• Provide department phone numbers and locations to callers
• Operate the hospital paging system
• Make overhead and pager announcements
• Follow emergency codes and alarm procedures
• Work with hospital security during emergencies
• Monitor incoming faxes and documents
• Register patients in the electronic medical record system
• Verify patients using two patient identifiers
• Accurately document emergency codes
• Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time

Requirements

• At least 6 months of hospital operator or call center experience
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Basic computer and office software skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Reliable and punctual
• Comfortable working overnight shifts

Preferred

• Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese
