Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Payroll Manager in Toronto, ON to lead a PCP-certified payroll team in a hybrid, contract role. You will oversee high-volume payroll for unionized groups, stabilize the Oracle Fusion system, and ensure compliance with complex agreements.

The role requires deep payroll processing expertise, strong leadership, and collaboration with HR, Finance, IT, and external consultants to drive optimization and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• PCP certification strongly preferred.
• PLP designation highly desirable.
• Experience with Oracle Fusion Payroll implementation or post-implementation support.
• Experience in unionized payroll environments (ONA/OPSEU or similar).
• Strong leadership, coaching, and process-improvement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a payroll team in a high-volume environment.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for unionized groups and shift workers.
• Stabilize and optimize Oracle Fusion Payroll post-implementation.
• Collaborate with IT, external consultants, HR, and Finance to drive improvements.
• Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and collective agreements.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Lead year-end reconciliations and maintain payroll controls.
