Job summary

Department of Natural Resources, Support Services Division in Juneau, AK seeks two Human Resource Technician 2 to process payroll actions and timekeeping for multiple bargaining units. The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and compliance with state payroll policy.

Qualifications

• Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1.
• High school graduation equivalents and clerical experience substitutions are described.
• Experience with payroll, personnel actions, and timekeeping is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process personnel actions and timesheets across multiple bargaining units ensuring accuracy and compliance with CBAs and payroll policy.
• Own bi-weekly payroll processing including timesheets, leave, overtime, and adjustments; certify payroll for terminations and seasonal leave.
• Conduct pay and leave audits and resolve discrepancies with finance and departmental staff; research NOPP when needed.
• Serve as a responsive point of contact for administrative staff, timekeepers, and employees on payroll procedures and leave questions.
• Support team operations, contribute to SOPs, assist with end-of-year actions, and act as a backup for Emergency Firefighter payroll processing.
