Job summary

State of Alaska’s Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking Payroll Technicians to help reestablish payroll services during an exciting transition back to the department. The role supports payroll processing, leave, and personnel actions for DOT&PF employees statewide.

Selected candidates will work in a growing Payroll Services team, with opportunities to establish new processes, ensure accuracy, and deliver high-quality service.

Qualifications

• Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work equivalent to a Human Resource Technician 1.
• Ability to interpret personnel rules, bargaining unit agreements, statutes, and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with payroll processing, certification, review, and audit of payroll and personnel actions.
• Provide technical information and assistance to managers, supervisors, employees, and other customers regarding payroll and personnel matters.
• Support the transition of payroll services from centralized to decentralized model within DOT&PF.
• Help establish processes and strengthen payroll operations.
• Maintain timely and accurate processing of payroll and related transactions.
