Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor to serve as a Subject Matter Expert for its Payroll Tax Operations team. You will own and resolve the most complex escalations, govern SOPs, and coach staff to build team capability.

The role requires 4+ years in payroll tax with multi-state experience, leadership as a SME, and strong knowledge of tax regulations across US jurisdictions. A CPP designation is preferred; Lean practices and daily huddles are encouraged. Equity and bonus targets apply.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience as lead, senior specialist, or SME with mentoring or training junior staff.
• Expert knowledge of tax payment and filing regulations across US jurisdictions including local taxes and state programs.
• Advanced writing skills for SOPs and technical documents for tax processors.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff, teaching resolution paths to build team capability.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct formal coaching sessions quarterly using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA, and stand-ups as backup facilitator.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices, including IRS/state audits and cross-jurisdictional penalties.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails.
• Identify systemic trends and communicate risks with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings, offering compliant risk-informed alternatives.
