Job summary

Intuit seeks a Lead Tax Processor as a Subject Matter Expert within PTO. This technical leadership role drives critical initiatives, resolves the most complex escalations, and governs SOPs and knowledge bases.

You will coach the team quarterly, manage WIP, and provide data-driven risk cases while maintaining compliance and operating under high-volume demands. The role emphasizes independent resolution of high-stakes issues, cross-functional collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to accuracy

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with complex tax defect resolution and multi-state filings.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or coaching junior staff.
• Advanced writing to create and approve SOPs and tax docs.
• Strong ownership of SLAs and proactive issue resolution.
• Experience handling sensitive escalations in fast-paced environments.
• Experience in contact center or back-office operations with high-volume needs.
• Comfort with using AI tools to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1–TP3 staff, resolve complex issues, and teach resolution paths.
• Own authoring, review, and approval of SOPs and KB articles across core operations.
• Conduct quarterly coaching sessions using SBIC feedback model to close skill gaps.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-up backups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise on staffing needs to the M1 manager.
• Resolve severe State and Federal payroll tax notices, including IRS multi-quarter disputes.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns with audit trails and ledger reconciliation.
• Identify trends and compliance risks; communicate with data-driven recommendations.
