Job summary

Intuit, Inc. is seeking a Lead Tax Processor and SME for Payroll Tax Operations to resolve the most complex tax issues and govern SOPs.

This remote role coaches staff, owns escalations, approves amendments, and partners with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance and process excellence. It is a remote, hourly, non-exempt position with potential overtime.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in payroll tax, lead/SME experience, and strong writing skills for SOPs and KBs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years payroll tax, complex tax defect resolution.
• Lead or mentor junior staff through nuanced resolution scenarios.
• Knowledge of US payroll tax regs including multi-state filings.
• Strong writing skills for SOPs and technical documents.
• Ownership of SLA metrics and proactive issue resolution.
• Validation-first mindset for proposed solutions to leadership.
• 5+ years handling highly sensitive escalations.
• Experience in contact center or back-office operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary real-time technical expert for TP1, TP2, TP3 staff.
• Author, review, and approve SOPs and KB articles.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly using SBIC feedback model.
• Lead or support team huddles, QA sessions, and daily stand-ups when needed.
• Oversee WIP, backlog, and aging reports; advise staffing adjustments.
• Resolve severe payroll tax notices (IRS/state) across jurisdictions.
• Approve complex amended Federal and State returns (941-X, W-2c).
• Identify trends and risks; report with data-driven recommendations.
• Represent team in cross-functional meetings and maintain compliance.
