Job summary

Velocity Vehicle Group seeks a Payroll Supervisor to manage day-to-day payroll processing and compliance for employees across 50 states and multiple entities using Dayforce. You will lead a small team, act as the escalation point, and partner with the Director of Payroll to ensure accurate, compliant payroll operations and a superior employee experience.

The role requires 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state districts and California wage/hour knowledge, plus strong leadership

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience across multiple states, including California wage/hour considerations.
• Hands-on Dayforce (Ceridian) payroll processing.
• Experience supporting payroll across multiple legal entities.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax withholding, wage and hour laws, and payroll regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with coaching and developing team members.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for assigned employee groups across multiple states and legal entities.
• Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve errors before payroll distribution.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for payroll inquiries and processing issues.
• Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including California wage and hour requirements.
• Partner with the Director of Payroll to implement legislative changes and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, payroll policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Support payroll reporting, audits, and special projects.
• Develop and maintain payroll SOPs and process documentation.
• Supervise, coach, and support two Payroll Specialists to ensure high performance.
• Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.
• Provide timely and professional support to employees, managers, and business partners.
