Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services in Santa Clarita, CA, is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to process biweekly payroll and review timekeeping across multiple systems. The role requires strong Excel skills and a track record with Paylocity, ExakTime, and NetSuite.

You will ensure accurate labor data, payroll reporting, and timely payroll completion. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably with independent responsibility for complete payroll cycles.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes, wage and hour regulations, and timekeeping practices.
• Experience with labor costing, job costing, or payroll accounting reconciliations.
• Strong Excel proficiency, including working with large datasets, formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
• Experience working with multiple payroll, timekeeping, and ERP systems.
• Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new software and troubleshoot system-related discrepancies.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Process and review biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Review employee timekeeping records, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections prior to payroll processing.
• Reconcile payroll hours and labor data across multiple systems, including Paylocity, ExakTime, and NetSuite.
• Ensure accurate labor allocation, job costing, and payroll-related reporting.
• Review and process payroll adjustments, PTO requests, employee changes, and other payroll transactions.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, including issues related to labor posting, timekeeping, and system integrations.
• Communicate effectively with branch management, supervisors, and internal departments regarding payroll matters.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
