Job summary

Plastipak Packaging, Inc. seeks a Payroll Specialist to process payroll for 4,000+ employees across multiple states using SAP and Workday. You will collect and audit data, calculate taxes and deductions, and prepare reports to support accurate, compliant payroll operations.

The role requires 3+ years of payroll experience, Workday and SAP knowledge, and strong attention to detail, with benefits and growth opportunities within Plastipak.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in finance, accounting, or related field.
• Associate’s degree required in accounting, finance, or business.
• Certified Payroll Professional certification preferred.
• 3+ years payroll processing experience required; 5 years preferred.
• Workday payroll experience required in multi-state organization.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, local payroll tax regulations and garnishment processing.
• Experience with SAP Payroll, UKG, Workday and ADP SmartCompliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and biweekly payroll for 4,000+ employees across multiple states using SAP and Workday.
• Maintain payroll data accuracy including exemptions, deductions, and transfers.
• Calculate and validate payroll taxes, voluntary deductions, and garnishments.
• Audit and reconcile payroll accounts, GLs, PTO accruals, and balances; resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad hoc payroll reports for earnings, taxes, deductions, and audits.
• Monitor changes in payroll requirements and advise management on actions.
• Support Workday payroll and HRIS initiatives including configuration and testing.
• Serve as payroll systems SME and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal partners and site Talent Management.
