Job summary

Discovery Land Company is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to support multi-state payroll operations and serve as the primary backup to the Payroll Manager. The role requires strong Workday Payroll and OSV experience, and collaboration with HR, Finance, and IT to ensure regulatory compliance.

You will manage payroll data, coordinate tax filings, and participate in audits and year-end activities while handling confidential information with discretion.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
• Hands-on experience processing payroll in Workday Payroll.
• Experience working with OneSource Virtual (OSV) payroll services.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Experience with payroll tax account registrations and new company/entity setup.
• Experience processing payroll for multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including payroll reporting and data analysis.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Experience in a multi-entity, high-growth organization.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Support bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and off-cycle payroll processing activities.
• Audit earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and benefit deductions.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and payroll-related GL accounts.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries promptly.
• Maintain Workday payroll data and support testing, upgrades, and improvements.
• Liaise with OSV to resolve payroll and tax issues and coordinate tax filings.
