Job summary

Coffman Excavation Inc. is seeking a Payroll Specialist and HR Team Member with a construction background to join our Oregon City, Oregon team. The role focuses on high-volume payroll processing, union reporting, and tax duties while supporting vendor invoicing on occasion.

The candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and ready to learn and grow with our company. Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with opportunities for professional development and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of payroll experience in construction
• Experience with union payroll processing
• Solid knowledge of payroll laws and tax reporting

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for ~30 non-union employees and manage tax/garnishment payments
• Process weekly payroll for ~200 union employees across states
• Track vacation and sick leave accruals and keep records accurate
• Prepare monthly union dues transactions for Operators and Laborers Unions
• Assist with employee setup and onboarding
• Support timecard management and software navigation for staff

Coffman Excavation is a growing leader in the earthwork industry. We are looking for a Payroll Specialist and Human Resource Team Member with a construction background to join our team. We take great pride in our work, employees and our community.

This candidate will be detail oriented and organized, maintaining a high volume of payroll, union reporting, quarterly and annual tax reporting in addition to processing vendor invoices on occasion. This position requires a reliable, motivated and productive employee that is willing to learn and grow with the company. The job location is in Oregon City, Oregon.

Schedule

Monday through Friday: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job Tasks

• Payroll processing weekly salary payroll for approximately 30 non-union employee’s. Making tax payments and garnishment payments.
• Payroll processing and assisting weekly for approximately 200 union employees in various states. Making tax payments, and garnishment payments.
• Understanding vacation and sick leave accruals and keeping them accurate and up to date.
• Prepare monthly union dues transactions for Operators and Laborers Unions.
• Provide assistance with employee setup as needed.
• Assist employees with managing timecards and navigating software programs.

Experience

• Background in the construction industry
• Union and non-union in-house payroll processing
• 5+ years’ experience preferred
• Solid knowledge of all payroll and law requirements
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Experience with Viewpoint Construction Accounting Software is a Plus

Education

• High School Diploma
• 2 year Associates Degree

• $80,000 to $100,000 annual salary – depending on experience and qualifications.
