Job summary

Atlas Industrial Holdings, LLC is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our industrial construction team in Columbus, Ohio. You will manage the full payroll process for a unionized workforce, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with CBAs and labor laws.

You will collaborate with HR, finance, and project managers to maintain records, run audits, and provide clear payroll reporting while safeguarding confidential information and supporting strategic workforce programs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate’s degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a unionized or construction industry setting.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems, labor laws, multi-state payroll and union regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our industrial construction company. This role is critical to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large, unionized workforce. The Payroll Specialist will oversee all aspects of payroll operations, compliance, and reporting, while liaising with union representatives and internal departments to ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements and labor laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Administration: Manage and oversee the full payroll process, including wage calculation, deductions, and distribution for unionized employees.
  • Union Compliance: Ensure payroll practices align with union contracts, collective bargaining agreements, and labor regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Setup new employees in payroll system, complete new hire reporting and maintain employee files for layoffs, terminations and resignations and respond to employment verifications.
  • Timekeeping and Attendance: Supervise systems for tracking employee hours, overtime, and paid time off to ensure accurate compensation.
  • Audits and Reporting: Conduct regular payroll audits to ensure compliance and accuracy; provide detailed reports to management and union representatives as required. Complete certified payroll, OCIP and CCIP reports and distribute to project owners / general contractors.
  • Tax Compliance: Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, working with external company to process payroll tax filings.
  • Benefits Integration: Collaborate with HR to manage payroll-related benefits, contributions, and deductions.
  • System Optimization: Maintain and improve payroll software systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Training and Development: Train staff and provide ongoing support to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees, union representatives, and management.
