Job summary

State of Alaska’s Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is hiring Payroll Technicians (Human Resource Technician 2) to help build a new Payroll Services team as Alaska moves payroll functions back to the department. Positions may be located in Juneau or Anchorage, with pay rates based on location and eligible for OT.

Responsibilities include accurate payroll and personnel processing, answering questions from managers and staff, and guiding the implementation of new payroll

Qualifications

• Six months of entry technical level experience in human resource work.
• Graduation from high school or the equivalent and one year of advanced clerical experience.
• One year of postsecondary education (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours) from an accredited college or university equals one year.
• Human resource work includes recruitment and selection, classification, employee training, employer provided benefits programs, employment law compliance, personnel, payroll, or employee or labor relations.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll, personnel, and leave transactions accurately and timely.
• Provide guidance to managers, supervisors, employees, and other customers regarding payroll and personnel matters.
• Help establish and refine payroll processes during the transition back to DOT&PF Payroll Services.
