Job summary

Pueblo County in Colorado is seeking a skilled payroll professional to administer technical activities within the payroll department, including the preparation of payroll, financial, and statistical reporting. You will respond to payroll questions, assist the Payroll Manager in the payroll cycle, and train department staff as needed.

You will review data for accuracy, audit final pay calculations, process changes (W-4s, direct deposits, garnishments), ensure tax withholdings, and stay aligned

Qualifications

• Must pass background check.
• Experience with payroll processing and payroll cycle.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state taxes and withholdings.
• Ability to coach and train staff.
• Familiarity with timekeeping and payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare County payroll, financial, and statistical reporting.
• Respond to payroll-related questions and inquiries.
• Assist Payroll Manager in completing payroll cycle and final pay calculations.
• Train Department staff and provide technical guidance.
• Process payroll changes including W-4s, direct deposits, garnishments, and withholdings.
• Back up Payroll Manager and ensure deadlines are met.
