Job summary

Pueblo County Government is seeking an experienced payroll professional to administer county payroll, tax reporting, and related financial tasks. You will audit data, process pay calculations, and provide guidance to departments and staff while ensuring compliance and accuracy.

The role offers remote and hybrid working opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and a pathway to advance within the Payroll Division. A strong background in Workday payroll and timekeeping is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree + 3+ years of progressive payroll processing experience
• Bachelor's Degree + 5+ years of progressive payroll processing experience
• Associate's Degree + 7+ years of progressive payroll processing experience
• High School Diploma/GED + 9+ years of progressive payroll processing experience

Responsibilities

• Independently reviews and evaluates the accuracy of payroll data and provides corrections.
• Assists in completing payroll cycle including auditing and approving final pay calculations.
• Acts as SME on compliance, projects, and payroll guidance.
• Oversees processing of employee payroll changes (W-4s, direct deposits, garnishments).
• Coaches/trains payroll clerks and liaises with other departments.
• Explains payroll calculations and requirements to customers.
• Backups Payroll Manager as needed.
• Stays abreast of the complete payroll process and deadlines.
