Job summary

City of New Orleans seeks an experienced payroll leader to direct and coordinate the organization-wide payroll functions. You will supervise accountants and staff, ensure accurate processing, maintenance and security of payroll data, and train personnel. The role requires strong knowledge of GASB/IRS and IRS reporting requirements.

The position emphasizes developing and implementing robust payroll controls and reporting to support organizational objectives and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Public Administration with at least 24 semester hours in Accounting.
• Five (5) years of responsible professional administrative experience performing full payroll functions with an automated system; at least two years in supervision of staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate the organization-wide payroll systems and controls.
• Supervise professional accountants and support staff in payroll operations, maintenance, security and training.
• Ensure payroll reports comply with GASB and IRS rules and reconcile reports accordingly.
