If you enjoy working collaboratively, building strong working relationships, and being part of something new, this may be the position for you.
Payroll Services for the State of Alaska is currently transitioning from a centralized model within the Department of Administration to a decentralized model, with the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) bringing payroll functions back into the department. As part of this transition, DOT&PF is building a new Payroll Services team that will be responsible for taking on payroll processing functions and helping guide the department through this transition.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team and play an active role in establishing processes, strengthening payroll operations, and providing quality service to DOT&PF employees across the state. Our team is responsible for the timely and accurate processing, certification, review, and audit of payroll and personnel actions for the department.
Under general guidance, this position ensures payroll, personnel, and leave transactions are completed accurately and in accordance with applicable Personnel Rules, bargaining unit agreements, statutes, policies, and standard operating procedures. The position also provides technical information and assistance to managers, supervisors, employees, and other customers regarding payroll and personnel matters.
DOT&PF’s mission is to “Keep Alaska Moving” and our HR vision is “We will work to serve the department by being a trusted resource, strategic partner, leader, and innovator in the delivery of human resource services.”
Supporting our employees is an important part of fulfilling that mission and vision. We value collaboration, respect, accountability, growth, and dependable service, and we strive to foster a workplace where employees feel valued, supported, and encouraged to contribute their knowledge, experience, and ideas.
As a member of DOT&PF Payroll Services, you will be part of a newly-established team with the opportunity to help shape how we work together as payroll functions transition back to the department. You will work alongside colleagues who are building new processes, strengthening services, and creating a collaborative team culture centered on professionalism, support, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This position also offers an excellent opportunity to build your knowledge and experience in payroll and human resources while developing skills that can support continued career growth with the State of Alaska.
As a State of Alaska employee, you will have access to a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid holidays, paid leave accrual, health insurance options, retirement benefits, and other employee programs designed to support your overall well-being and work-life balance.
