Job summary

Simplex Inc. is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to ensure accurate, timely, and confidential payroll and benefits administration in Springfield, IL.

You will assist with payroll processing, timekeeping review, benefits administration, and handling employee inquiries with discretion. The role requires 3+ years of payroll/benefits experience, strong organizational skills, and proficiency with MS Office and HRIS systems.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years payroll, benefits, and accounting support.
• Strong understanding of payroll processes and benefits administration.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS software.
• Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing payroll information for hourly and salaried employees.
• Review and validate timesheets, attendance records, pay changes, payroll adjustments, deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and other payroll-related transactions.
• Maintain payroll records and support documentation.
• Assist with payroll reporting, year-end processing requirements, and payroll procedure documentation.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Coordinate new hire enrollments, benefit changes, qualifying life events, terminations, benefits documentation, and employee communications.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit questions.
• Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records and provide administrative support to Accounting and HR as assigned.
