Job summary

Re:Build Manufacturing in Massachusetts seeks a seasoned payroll professional to lead multi-state payroll governance as the enterprise rolls out a new payroll/HRIS platform. You will direct policy, controls, and compliance while partnering with Finance, Benefits, IT, and HR leadership.

After launch, you own the system, oversee SOX controls, tax compliance, year-end processes, and site payroll across 1,200+ employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, accounting, finance, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of multi-state payroll experience in a large organization.
• Experience leading payroll during a major HRIS implementation and policy development.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage/hour rules, garnishments, tax and year-end processing.
• Solid governance of HRIS/payroll, integrations, and SOX familiarity.
• Proficient Excel and payroll reporting/audit experience.
• Analytical, detail‑oriented, and able to influence without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own corporate payroll policies, standards, and regulatory guidelines across sites and employee types.
• Serve as enterprise subject matter expert for complex pay, tax, and compliance issues.
• Maintain SOX controls/documentation and oversee year-end processes and W‑2 accuracy.
• Provide enterprise oversight of site payroll processing and identify systemic improvements.
• Lead payroll operations within enterprise payroll/HRIS implementation: define requirements and drive testing and sign-off with ADP specialist.
• Assume full functional ownership after launch, managing configuration changes and integrations.
• Oversee multi-state tax setups, withholding, garnishments, and related compliance.
• Partner with Finance, Benefits, and senior HR; train site HR teams with clear guidance and tools.
