Job summary

Coder is seeking a Payroll Analyst to help keep payroll accurate, timely, and trustworthy as we grow across states and countries. You’ll support day-to-day payroll operations, reconcile the details behind every run, and help employees get clear answers when questions come up.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Payroll Specialist and partner across Accounting, People, and other teams whose work connects to payroll.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2–3 years payroll experience, multi-state or international exposure preferred.
• Strong knowledge of core payroll tax concepts (FICA, FUTA/SUTA).
• Proficiency in Excel including pivot tables and lookups.
• Excellent reconciliation skills and attention to detail; payroll leaves no room for error.
• Strong communication across Accounting, Finance, People, and other teams.

Responsibilities

• Support semi-monthly and weekly payroll processing in Rippling, including hires, terminations, pay changes, off-cycle payments, garnishments, and retroactive adjustments.
• Reconcile payroll registers against HRIS and benefits data before submission.
• Resolve discrepancies with Senior Payroll Specialist and support accurate month-end reporting.
• Coordinate with People team on employee changes, compensation updates, and benefits deductions.
• Assist with multi-state tax withholding setup and registrations as Coder expands.
• Maintain an audit trail of rate changes and new state or country registrations.
• Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2s, W-2c corrections, and ACA reporting.
• Leverage AI tools to automate workflows and improve processes.
• Maintain payroll systems, including Rippling and Deel, ensuring data integrity with Accounting.
• Respond to payroll tax notices, unemployment claims, and audit requests.
• Maintain accurate payroll SOPs and process documentation.
