Job summary

S+B James Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to handle weekly payroll, vendor invoicing, and balance sheet reconciliations in a fast-paced construction environment in Oregon. The role includes processing certified payroll for Davis-Bacon and state requirements, handling union reporting, and assisting with audits.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and strong Excel/ERP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 2+ years of accounting experience or 4+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and the month-end close process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting/ERP software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process weekly payroll.
• Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports for public works and prevailing wage projects.
• Verify employee classifications, hours, wage rates, and fringe benefits against project wage determinations.
