Centurion Health in Sterling, VA is seeking a Payroll Accountant responsible for processing multi-state payroll, reconciling with the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with payroll regulations. You will use Paycom software and collaborate with Finance and HR to maintain accurate payroll operations.

The role emphasizes accuracy, timely payroll processing, tax filings such as 941, W-2, and 1099, and ongoing process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• FPC or CPP certification preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of payroll accounting experience in a mid-to-large-sized organization.
• Strong experience with Paycom payroll software (processing, reporting, and tax compliance).
• Knowledge of multi-state payroll tax laws and payroll reconciliation.
• Experience with general ledger payroll accounting.
• Experience with unionized payroll practices (CBAs) preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in payroll calculations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables).

Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll transactions accurately and timely using Paycom.
• Ensure payroll compliance with policies, wage laws, and tax regulations.
• Reconcile payroll data with the general ledger and financial reports.
• Validate time-keeping, deductions, benefits, and earnings before payroll submission.
• Manage payroll adjustments, retroactive payments, and off-cycle payrolls.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
• Generate and analyze payroll reports for Finance, HR, and leadership.
• Assist in audits by providing accurate payroll documentation.
