Job summary

Centurion Health is seeking a Payroll Accountant at our Springfield, IL regional office. You will process accurate multi-state payroll, ensure tax compliance, and reconcile payroll with the general ledger while collaborating with Finance and HR.

The role requires Paycom proficiency, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail to drive process improvements and maintain regulatory compliance. A Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in payroll accounting are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years of payroll accounting experience in a mid-to-large organization.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll and tax filings.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance (federal, state, local).
• Proficiency with Paycom payroll software and Excel for financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Process multi-state payroll transactions accurately and timely.
• Prepare payroll tax filings (941, W-2, 1099) and reconcile taxes.
• Record payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
• Generate payroll reports for Finance and HR; support audits.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities and continuous process improvements.
• Assist in payroll system optimization and integrations with HR/accounting systems.
• Provide timely guidance to employees on payroll-related questions.
