Job summary

FreshBooks is seeking a Director of Payments & Financial Services to lead the Payments business, own the P&L, and drive cross-functional execution across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Risk. This role requires an executive communicator who can translate strategy into quarterly delivery and manage high-impact initiatives such as surcharging, repricing and BNPL readiness.

The position is a senior, hands-on leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day machine,

Qualifications

• 8+ years in payments/fintech or SaaS financial services with commercial ownership (revenue, margin, pricing).
• Deep understanding of payments economics, processing, interchange, BNPL, pricing and margin management.
• Proven track record delivering P&L ownership with cross-functional alignment.

Responsibilities

• Own weekly/monthly operating rhythm including KPIs, TPV, and revenue forecast.
• Lead high-value initiatives: surcharging, repricing, AutoPay, embedded payments.
• Manage payments operations including payouts, reconciliation, and risk controls.
• Own partner/vendor relationships (Stripe, networks) and drive terms and performance.
• Balance customer growth with margin discipline and risk exposure.
• Chair cross-LOB leadership forums and drive executive alignment.
