Mortgage Payment Specialist

Richmond, VA (onsite) – Contract Length: 3 months

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Mortgage Payment Specialist for a 3‑month onsite contract role in Richmond, VA. The successful candidate will support the accurate and timely processing of mortgage payments within a residential loan portfolio. Responsibilities include handling a variety of cashiering activities such as processing incoming payments, managing lockbox rejects, preparing deposits, assisting with ACH payment authorizations and changes, and supporting basic account corrections. This entry‑level role is key to maintaining smooth daily operations and providing reliable service to both internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately process mortgage payments, ensuring timely and correct application of funds.
  • Manage lockbox rejects and prepare deposits for daily banking activities.
  • Assist with processing ACH payment authorizations and modifications.
  • Support basic account corrections, including the review and adjustment of transactions as needed.
  • Perform routine analytical tasks such as information gathering, identifying errors, and making preliminary corrections.
  • Deliver professional and courteous customer service, responding to inquiries and providing clear communication to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Follow established policies and procedures while exercising sound judgment in daily operations.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments as needed and coordinate follow‑up with external payees.
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in a related field, with a demonstrated ability to manage a variety of cashiering and payment processing tasks.
