Job summary

Kent District Library is seeking a Circulation Clerk to support patron services across locations. You will check in/out materials, register patrons, process changes, and balance funds. The role involves shelving, handling book drops, and performing routine maintenance while delivering helpful guidance to patrons.

The position requires strong clerical skills, basic math, and the ability to work under supervision. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus and travel between locations may occur.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in library or retail settings preferred.
• General clerical and computer skills with effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Check in/out library materials and collect payments for losses.
• Register patrons and issue new library cards; process name/address changes.
• Sort, shelve, and inspect materials; handle book drops and repairs.
• Enter data for late/damaged/claims returned items; maintain patron records.
• Assist patrons with searches using ILS and online databases.
• Provide reference and information services and basic tech help.
